Rational-Emotive Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (RECBT) is the earliest form of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and was created in the 1950s by Dr Albert Ellis.
Ellis stated that it is our unhealthy thinking about events that lead to unhealthy behaviours and emotions. RECBT works on the basis that if we can change this unhealthy thinking, we can change our emotional and behavioural responses and therefore experience healthier alternatives.
RECBT therapy helps to identify unhealthy ways of thinking and behaving to then develop healthier alternatives which ultimately leads to goal achievement, be it emotional and or behavioural.
